Word was recently received that the Ida Margaret Coulter Stone Park in Lockesburg was the recipient of a $40,000.00 grant from the Blue and You Foundation. With the $40,000.00 grant plus the recently constructed concrete retaining wall, we can get our park looking nice and also give youngsters more of an opportunity to have fun and get more exercise. The grant has to be used for a new basketball court, playground equipment for children two to five years of age, picnic tables and benches, sunshades for the bleachers and other miscellaneous items.  During her employment for the city, former Deputy Municipal Clerk June Ralls, applied for several grants that were denied but she was successful in gaining this grant for the park. June grew up and went to school in Lockesburg and during her employment with the city she sought to do her best to improve Lockesburg. Thank you again June for a job well done. 

I want to thank everyone who participated in the Lead and Copper testing recently. If the recent Lead and Copper samples do as well as the first group of samples did, we should be put back on the once a year Lead and Copper testing program. The reason for all of this extra Lead and Copper testing is due to the fact that the PH in our water system was allowed to fall below 7.0 for an extended period of time back in 2010 and 2011. Justin Ruth, Matt Webb, and myself have worked extra hard to get our water system analytical levels back where they need to be.   

As Christmas is approaching City employees, Jo Anna, Matt, Justin, and myself wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas.
