Bohanon in Top 20 Overall at State Golf Match
|
Ashdown High School sophomore Autumn Bohanon competed in the 4-A State High School Girls’ Golf Match on October 28 at Thunder Bayou in Blytheville. She shot a 93, which put her in the top 20 overall of the 64 competitors. "Autumn started on Hole # 3 and struggled on her first four or five holes," AHS Golf Team Coach Wiley Cunningham said. "She had a chip-in for Birdie on # 12 and a Birdie putt on # 13. She settled down and only had a couple of bad holes after that,” Cunningham added. This is Bohanon’s second trip to the State Golf Match. She also qualified as a freshman in 2009 but finished in the bottom third of the field during her first showing. “She has worked hard to improve her game and has her sights set on playing golf at the college level,” stated Coach Cunningham. Bohanon also earned All Conference Honors for the 2010 season. Autumn is the only female member of the AHS golf team and the only female AHS golfer to ever qualify for state competition two years in a row. Since those two years were as a freshman and a sophomore, successes at the state and even college level are very likely for Autumn’s golfing future.
