Ashdown Schools Set Registrations for Students

Ashdown Schools are gearing up for the 2010-11 school year and have set registrations times and procedures for their students.

Margaret Daniel Primary School has scheduled Meet the Teachers Night for Tuesday, August 17. Kindergarten students who have not previously registered need to be in the library at 5:00 that evening. At 5:30 a meeting for parents of all kindergarten students will be held in the cafeteria, and at 6:30 first graders’ parents will meet in the cafeteria.

C. D. Franks Elementary School will register new students from 8:30 to 12:00 on August 10-12. A new student will need to bring birth certificate, Social Security card and immunization record. “Meet the Teacher” student registration for CDF will be on Tuesday, August 17 from 4:00 to 7:00. At that time, mandatory book bags may be purchased for $4 and pencil packs for $1. Parent meetings will be held on that same evening in the library for 2^nd grade parents at 5:00 and 3^rd grade parents at 6:00.

L. F. Henderson Intermediate School is registering new and returning students on Monday, Aug. 9 from 9:00-12:00 and 1:00-3:00 and on Tuesday, Aug. 10 from 1:00-7:00. Homeroom teachers will be designated during registration.

Ashdown Junior High School will be registering 6^th graders on Tuesday, Aug. 10 from 8:30-5:00 at the school. Seventh graders will register on Wed., August 11 from 8:30-5:00. (An important reminder for students entering the 7^th grade is that they must have had their updated Tdap immunization.) Registration for 8^th graders is Thursday, August 12 from 8:30-5:00.

Ashdown High School will host “Open House” on Monday, August 16 from 4:00-8:00. Students will also pick up their schedules and take-home books at designated times that evening. Ninth and tenth graders are asked to attend from 4:00 to 5:30, and eleventh and twelfth graders' designated time is from 6:00 to 7:30.

The first day of student attendance for all schools is Thursday, August 19.

Student registration for Dierks High School will be as follows.

August 5^th

7^th – 9^th grades will register from 9:00am until Noon.

7^th graders and a parent need to be at the school at 8:30am for orientation. They will meet in the cafeteria.

10^th – 12^th grades will register from 1:00pm until 3:00pm

Each student needs to bring $3.00 for a locker fee. Charging for a locker will not be allowed.

August 9^th

New student registration from 9:00am until Noon and 1:00pm until 3:00pm

Any student new to the district either by transfer from another school or moving into the district must register this day.

Jo Ann Walters Elementary School will be hosting their annual Open House on Tuesday, August 17th. It will be a time when students and parents can come and meet their teachers before school begins. It is also an opportunity for those students who have not already registered to come and complete that process. Open House will begin at 6:00 in the elementary gym.
